A note on listening

Human hearing bottoms out around 20 Hz. Every Schumann resonance, most of the brain-wave bands, and the lowest consciousness levels fall at or beneath that floor — they can be measured and felt, but not heard. Those petals carry a small hollow ring beside their number, and the overlay says so when you hover them. Rather than leave them silent, each is voiced as a low drone that pulses at the named rate, so you hear the rhythm itself. The brain-wave bands glide slowly across their range so you can hear the progression from one end to the other.

Voices balance themselves automatically: sound forty petals at once and each one softens, so the flower never turns to mud. The golden heart of the lotus silences everything, as does the escape key.
